How does one apply to become a member of the LSYC?
New members need to be proposed by a current member that has known them for at least 5 years, and seconded by a member that has known them for at least three years. The formal application is then submitted to the membership committee for review and membership is granted upon availability.
Can I race a Star Boat on Lake Sunapee?
Yes. One does not have to be a member of the LSYC to sail a Star on Lake Sunapee. For more information, contact the Fleet Captain, David Cook or Lt. of Fleet Racing, Scott Beckman.
What other sailing events are there on Lake Sunapee?
Besides the Star Fleet, the LSYC is often involved in other events, including regional Laser regattas.
What does the Yacht Club have to do with the Lake Sunapee Protective Assn.?
Officially, the LSYC supports the LSPA with a fund raiser held every other year. Other than that, there is no official link between the two organizations. There is however significant overlap in the memberships of the two organizations, and the Yacht Club takes Lake Sunapee water quality very seriously.
What about the Fireworks?
The LSYC has been proud to present fireworks around the 4th of July holiday for many years. The expense of the fireworks is incurred 100% by the Yacht Club. The exact date of the firworks is typically published in the local newspapers, and we will try to have the date of the fireworks available on this site.
